A second work party was organised this month to remove a fallen tree that was causing a significant blockage above the motorway bridge. Again this work party was well attended with around a dozen club members attending. The fallen tree was cut into manageable chunks and swift work was made of removing it from the river. The larger tree trunks that have been cut will be pinned to the bank as 'woody debris' to provide cover and deflect water flow. Club members then cut down and cleared out some of the trees blocking the light and obstructing fishing from the motorway bridge upstream to the site of the fallen tree. The tree clearance work has made a huge difference to how fishable this section is, and has enabled light to reach the river bed, the hope is that this will encourage weed growth and increase fly life.
